Tullibody Community Development Trust are an active group established from the successful campaign group Save Tullibody Public Park. The newly formed development trust are hoping to safe guard Tullibody Public Park from future development and improve local community facilities.
“Our aim is to make Tullibody a place where people want to live, work and visit”.
Tullibody has expanded beyond recognition in the last decade. With a current population in Tullibody over 9,500 and more housing currently being built, it has become the second biggest town in Clackmannanshire, after Alloa. The impact of losing our only substantial green space, play park and community facilities would have a dramatic impact on the local residents here in Tullibody, Cambus and Glenochil. With almost all open spaces being eradicated from our local map. The expansion of Tullibody has happened with no consideration of amenities, parkland or community. Formed after the successful campaign to stop the new Tullibody south school campus being built on the park, Tullibody CDT aim to have the public park put into trust and save the largest single area of green space (the only large green space) in our community from any future development.
In addition to that we need (and want) to extend that aim to protect and secure our Civic Centre and heritage centre; both of which sit alongside the park and are currently facing genuine risk of closure with the land being sold for possible housing and/or other development. We strongly feel we can only achieve this aim by taking these named facilities into community ownership to remove the operational cost from the council’s reduced budget – as other communities have successfully done so – We aim to meet the social, cultural, educational and health aspirations of our growing local community, whilst protecting and enhancing our natural environment . The park and Civic Centre are well used and loved by the whole community. Lets keep it that way.
Together, with help from Caskie Co, we have compiled our Vision Document for the future of the Civic Centre.
Complete our Civic Centre Survey
We are in the process of conducting an online survey to find out what the residents of Tullibody want in their community centre.
Tell us what is important to you and what services you feel are necessary for our growing community.
We have had over 500 responses to date and look forward to hearing your views
The survey only takes a few minute to complete and will give us a greater idea of what local people would like to see in their own community.
Help us get it right.
If you would like to get involved in the project or find out more about Tullibody Community Development Trust, the work we are doing for the community or our progress with the Park & Civic Centre, we welcome local residents to attend one of our Tullibody CDT group meetings. Member meetings are held quarterly. 7pm, in the Gallery | Tullibody Civic Centre | FK10 2RU.
